D83 is a structured tender file
D83 belongs to GAEB 1990 and is not an ordinary word-processing template. The GAEB FAQ explains file families and the limits of conversion: only content representable in both formats can transfer.
Decide whether you need a readable PDF or data for an offer return. In the standalone GAEB web editor, add prices and company details, then choose the output. Its specific validation notices remain important.
Keep the original unchanged
Store the received D83 as the original and open it in the editor. Renaming it PDF or X83 does not change its structure. Compare the project heading, section titles, item references, quantities, units, long descriptions and notes with the tender documents. Check you are not pricing an older version.
For an import error, inspect the actual source and message. Do not replace damaged or unsupported data with a renamed copy; ask the sender for the correct original if needed.
Add a separate working state
Enter your net unit prices against the existing items. Unknown prices may remain open for interim review. Do not replace source quantities and descriptions with invented items.
Next add company name, address, country, contact email and the required logo. Review the summary and billing address for the individual purchase. Checkout explains the purchase before payment; a subscription is not required.
For the same unlocked document, you can revise prices and download the updated PDF again. A different source needs a separate unlock.
Why PDF does not replace D84
A PDF is a readable presentation; D84 is a structured offer return. The client's requirements decide which is needed, not the filename.
The standalone editor provides PDF output and, for a supported fully checked D83 state, the matching D84. Resolve missing mandatory information or non-representable content for that output. The D83, X83, D84 and X84 comparison explains their separate roles.
Review before sending
Read the generated PDF on screen. Compare sections, sample items, prices and company details, and make sure unknown prices remain identifiable. Observe limitations reported for the source. Downloading does not send it to the client; choose the required files and delivery route deliberately.
